I am a newbie and I just want to get everything straight before I replace the dash. I bought a new dash pad. When I took off the old one, there was no speakers attached. Speakers were behind kick plate. I would like to put speakers both in the dash and kickplate. I am a little lost on what type of speakers would go in each place. I also was wondering when once speakers are selected, do you wire the two left(dash& Kickplate) together and the two right together?
There is also 2 speakers on the rear deck. It has an amplifier.. so when I purchased it, it had 2 front(kick plate) 2 on rear deck and a sub woffer. I want to do 4 front (dash& kickplate, 2 rears and one sub. Is this possible?
If anyone can tell me if it can be done and what 4 speakers(ohm) would I buy for the front. and are do I connect the front ones. Thanks.

I am satisfied with just kick panel speakers but if you want the additional dash speakers, I would by component speakers - 2 tweeters for the dash and 2 midrange for the kick panels.

If you don't want to cut up your kick panels, you should be able to fit shallow mount 6-1/2" speakers. This is what I have. 4"X6" will fit as that is the size of the opening. I also have a JL Audio amp with a 10"subwoofer. This works fine for me. I don't see any need for rear speakers. But there will be others who will chime in with their opinions. Just standby.
I dont have a problem putting them into the kickplate, I would cut out plate and mount cover onto plate. I would prefer round speakers though. I believe a 6.5" would fit. I was also thinking of getting rid of the rear speakers and installing this bar. Clean look. If i were to install the 2 front and the speaker bar, would i still need the amplifier?
I went with two 5 1/4" in the kickpanels. That is all I could fit behind the panel and still get it in place.
Then I had 2 6x9s in the back and an 8" sub.
The speaker amp is 100 watts x 4 and my sub amp is 250 watts. It sounds amazing in my garage! But with a 68 Big Block and the tops off, no matter what, it is a little quiet.
I'm still glad I did it though. Kenwood single DIN head unit (receiver - no CD to keep the size down).

I used the Polk Audio DB461P 4x6-Inch Coaxial Plate-Style Speakers on my dash pad.
Put the dash speakers on the front outputs and the kick panel speakers on the rear outputs so that you can fade them to get the right sound. Then you run the low level outputs to the amp and speakers in the rear and adjust the amp to fit your dash pad and kick panel speaker sound.
Cheers,
Richard

My boom box sound is produced by RPO U69 the AM/FM non-stereo radio that sold for $173.00 back in 1973, not to be confused with the really nice AM/FM stereo radio that was RPO U58 that sold for $276.00
The link below is for Cruthfield, this is a great resource for all things audio. So asking our opinion on what's right is subjective, I know what I like and only you know what you like. Most guys would rather hear the music the car makes, in any event Crutchfield gives you a pretty good idea of what your getting. https://www.crutchfield.com/m_418550...kers-Subs.html
When I was shopping for my audio for my Camaro I was sitting in the audio shop and first heard a set of Focal 6.5" components ... MMMMAAAAAAANNNNN, they sounded so good that the price didn't scare me! I have bought 4 of them for my car, when it's finished that is, the poster above that said mids in the kicks and tweats in the existing dash I feel is right on track.
It's your ride, do what works for you, good luck and have fun.

So true on every aspect.
I called Crutchfield and talked to them about what I wanted to do and we built the system together.
Super helpful in making sure you have the right cables and fuses, etc.
