Default Vacuum Headlight Replacement

Hi Everyone, I just recently bought my 1981 C3 Corvette. I've noticed that the previous owner has jerry-rigged some kind of makeshift vacuum system on the headlights, and they are not closing properly or here lately at all. I was wondering if y'all had any advice on either A.) Restoring the old vacuum system, or B.) Just converting it to an electronic system to control them like that.
P.s This is my first post not sure of the rules of posting so if this isn't where it needs to be do let me know!

Thanks,
Ethan

Hi Ethan, Welcome!
Go to page 10 and look for " Why do my lights work" started by me VF-301. I'd post a link but I can't seem to get it done. The info in this thread is very informative. The gents in this forum went all out to teach me how to fix my problems on the vacuum system. Follow all the links that they give, especially the diagrams. It's actually a pretty simple system.

And if you want to go electric there are many threads on the subject. Use advanced search and you'll find all the info you need. Personally I stuck with the vacuum system and it's served me well since 1999. One thing is I didn't have to dd anything to the headlights except reseal the actuators. I did take a weekend to get my wiper door working though. Good luck.
