Hi guys,
I bought Hooker Long tube headers (2456-1hkr) after confirming on the site and by phone with Holley that they fit my 1970 coupe. In the directions that arrived with them, it noted "these do not fit the turbo 400 transmission." I tried anyway and confirmed they don't fit. The passenger side runs right through the modulator. It was pretty dang frustrating to not see that info on the site anywhere or have the tech at Holley, when I told him exactly what car I had, fail to mention that the auto trans wouldn't work, after waiting over an hour to talk to the guy.
So now that I'm done venting, after the time has been wasted, and the return has been arranged, I'm at a spot where I'm having a hard time finding the right headers.
I can hear a few of you thinking, why not just swap out the trans for a five speed... and though I'd like that, at some point I'd like to actually drive the car and that requires actually putting pieces back on.
Anybody running headers (Hooker or other) on an auto with a 400 turbo trans? If so, what do you have on that ol' vette?
As always, thanks in advance for your info and direction.
Just a heads up, for others, when buying Hookers they usually have a bunch of “footnotes” listed. Always read these carefully, lots of hidden pitfalls found there.

After seeing the paperwork that came with it, I went back to the site and --as you said -- found the footnotes... That's a great thing to know for anyone in the future buying the headers. I wish I'd have seen it. Normally I wouldn't have missed that.
After another 45 minutes on the phone with Summit yesterday, I order D350, Doug's Headers -- again Ceramic Coated. The only note is that it may not work with the steering lock, as is. We'll see.
Thanks for the responses, gang. That one was a frustrater.
This is one area where there is an advantage to having a small block over a big block.
With a big block I only had two long tube header manufacturers to choose from.
Hooker and Hedman.
I heard that Hooker had fitment and quality issues over the past few years, so my only choice was Hedman.
I’ve heard nothing but good things about Doug’s
It would be nice if Doug’s or someone else made a good big block long tube header.
