Default 77 Turn Signal Switch

Replaced the broken turn signal lever in my 77 today and all my signals are working, but the lever won't stay in place when pushing it down/up. I was always told that getting a new switch for the '77 is impossible but I see most of the parts sites have a switch that says it's for 77-79E. Are these sites just incorrect in the application or maybe these were just introduced after all the threads I've seen saying it can't be found? I know I can replace the cancel cam and springs and possibly get it working again but for nearly the same cost I'd rather just do the whole switch if these aftermarket ones work.

You replaced the broken Turn Signal/Wiper/Washer Lever and now the reproduction lever wont lock into the socket.
The problem you are having has nothing to do with the turn signal switch.
I have seen some of the $20.00 reproduction levers that are not crafted with the slot in the correct spot for the Stem-Cap & spring that lock the lever in place, or the Stem is stuck (pushed in) and just won't spring return so the stem can lock the lever in place.
The Red arrow in the photo below is pointing to the stem and the 3 parts below it are what they look like removed.
The NOS switch shows a white cap and the 3 parts below show a blue cap just for a visual of where the parts are.

Should have been more clear, sorry. It's locking into the socket. It's not staying in position when I engage the turn signals either direction so I have to hold it down for them to stay on.

So yes, if you have the T&T column the turn signal switches are available.
Another route would be a NOS Delco switch for around the same price. GM #1997983 or 1997984. The 7984 will have the corning light wires (Not Used) but same exact switch.
