Hello All, finally got around to knocking out one of the items on my "To Do" list on my '78 that I bought last August. Jacked her up and cleaned all the grease fittings and the globs of old, nasty grease that had squirted out of the rubber boots on all the steering and suspension components over the years. While I was under there, I decided to wire-brush some surface rust here and there and spray some flat-black. Nothing show-worthy but I think the old girl looks a little better! Plus, I have the peace of mind knowing that one more area is cleaner then it was before! Regards, LowSporty
The first two are before and the last three are after!

I understand your logic and trying to make the under-carriage look nicer...but if you ever want to really clean it up, you will have to remove paint, too. Many folks have done what you have....in fact, many years ago [in my younger days] I did it too. I'd just like to offer my 2 cents that it might be best to put that step off until the time is available to do the 'real deal'.
really looks clean and original..can't be that many miles..
you got great advice above...
when (not if) you fix things.. , get a nice creeper for all that time under the car !
here is some reference when new (not mine) 78-9 but similiar
..mask off with tape and rags brake lines or new lines paint when replacing.. use a brush and dab as needed (spray into cap)..if you find some original markings i would not clean aggressively and not paint over.. if it matters to you like the frame # (mine).

good looker, I agreee with interpon, semi gloss will give it a more even looking coverage and hide some of the stains better. Really good shape!!
Thanks Rescue Rogers! Appreciate it, LowSporty
Interpon, Thanks, it was a 3-owner car w/ 71,000 original miles when I bought it. Thanks for the pics, that was nice of you! Regards, LowSporty
How are You, Thank-You Sir!
BTW, It was not my intention to restore/refurbish the front suspension only to clean the grease off [I'm OCD] so next time I shot the fittings it would'nt be a greasy mess. One thing led to another so I cleaned a few things and shot them flat-black 'cause that's what I had on the shelf! I am probably the only person who will ever see under the car so the only person I have to please is me!
Best to All, LowSporty
