Default New stereo

Just bought a custom autosound 630 and would like to install it in a 1979. Problem is my opening is a 2 inch by 7 inch rectangular opening to mount it in and no other holes. I did not see any kind of faceplate so I am a bit confused. Any help please!

Can you post a photo? Someone likely already cut your stock dash opening, or replaced it with a 1 DIN version.

Replacement center consoles are available for 79s, both with 1 DIN or stock (small rectangle, two **** holes) openings.

Out of stock at Zip, but this will give you the key words to search for.

Here you go-

You could probably make a set of them.

Back in the day I had hundreds of them- nice metal brackets that came with JVC radios when I was installing them to pay for college...

That's unfortunate. Someone just hacked up the stock piece.

If it were my car, I'd just replace the center console with a reproduction (which is what I did, in my car). But Richard's suggestion should work just fine, too. It won't look quite as stock, though.
