It sure is cool these cars were made........glad to have lived in this time. Sad for the youngsters today and what they have to play with, no matter how they perform. They don't look like this stuff in this thread.

The cars of today look good to the young guys even if we aren't into them. They have it made with the technology side of things with fuel injection/overdrives/LSX engines etc. I agree with you though. I love the look of older cars. Carbureted cars with that nice gas smell (not too rich that your eyes water)

The rumble of a solid roller cam. You can't beat that exhaust note.

Not to be argumentative, but how are any modern cars considered "good looking"?......by any standards. There are all only small dimensions from one another.......watch traffic go by, and its a sea of one car after the other that looks only marginally different. Each is shaped for whatever aerodynamic perfect model template the manufacturers have determined is best, with nothing but extremently minor body line differences. Seriously......they all look exactly the same. Even colors are down to only a few, most being white, silver or black. Compare that to the classic cars of from the 50's through the early 80's,........no comparison. Anyone wanting to buy a new car have very few options in styling. So sad for those of today. Anyways....who cares what I think? And there is nothing we can do about it anyway.

Back to what I just said.....glad I lived in a time where the iconic classic cars were built,......and today I own one. Someday, I will finish my 69 Corvette Convertible.....and have two! I once owned a 65 GTO, and learned to drive in a 67 Coupe DeVille Cadillac.......those are beautiful machines. Or today.......I can buy a Toyota Camry/Honda/Acura/etc etc repeat repeat.....WOO HOO!!!!

Just cutting and pasting off the internet don't get too argumentative about the numbers, but looks like her new jelly bean car would have beat my bright red tri-power

Wife's BMW: xDrive 4dr All-wheel Drive Sedan 300 Hp, 300 Lb-Ft., 4233lbs Weight 0-60 5.6 sec, 13.9 @ 83
My old GTO: Tri-Power 1965 went 0-60 mph in 5.8 seconds 3459 lbs base curb weight. 14.5@100

As I recall Jay Len did one of these drag races with Tim Allen, wasn't even close. I don't remember the cars but similar circumstances

Yeah, but the GTO's "cool factor" is worth a few tenths to anyone who's watching.

Speed is only ONE of many important things......and not high on the top of my list driving on the roads of PA. ALL cars today go fast.....speed is no longer anything special. Acceleration is fun, so I like alot of that, and my 406 in the 77 gives me all I need. I like your term "jelly bean", as it best describes almost every car manufactured today. One shape, One size, one boring car.

I cannot imagine anyone looking at a Honda Civic parked beside a 67 GTO and having any confusion as which car is beautiful. But.....I guess everyone has an opinion.??
