Hello. My questions are about the paint for the rally wheels. In particular for a late 69 which I understand was a greenish silver color. Slightly different than most other years. Does anyone sell this shade or is it the silver color that matches the other years. I suspect it is very similar and probably what my rims are now but just wondered if the L 69 color was available. Figured if I'm going to repaint might as well try to get the greenish silver, if possible. Also, to repaint a wheel approximately how many can or cans per wheel would you need. Assuming there weren't to many mistakes and redo's. Thanks for your help.
If you don't have the car judged by NCRS, just get a spray can of the Argent Silver (or two) to do your wheels. If you go the NCRS route, contact NCRS for the paint formula.
I just used Rustoleum 7715 on my 71. (Described as “aluminum” on the tag.). Used it as a base coat, then oversprayed a portion of it with Eastwood Argent Silver. I couldn’t tell any difference in hue, and at $4.99 per can for Rustoleum, I saw no reason to order or pay shipping on Argent Silver.

always enjoyed this silver more. Did it like 10 years ago and holding nicely. 3 smaller cans did all 4.
I read on a Forum post where Chevrolet painted the back of the wheel black and then sprayed the front of the wheel with the argent silver. The silver bled through the stud holes to the back side, as well as any other openings, they didn’t bother to mask anything.
The original wheels were dipped painted black at the rim manufacturer Kelsey Hayes. Then hung from hook and the outer side was painted Argent Silver. Not sure if this was done at Kelsey Hayes or at the main St. Louis assembly plant. As any item other then the body that needed paint was not done at the Corvette assembly plant not enough room all were done at the main plant.
