I am a cheap old guy so instead of buying that really nice item, I put a 4 X 4 between the jack and the crossmember. Once it is jacked up I place my jack stands, usually behind the front wheel at the frame. Or under the sway bar mounts. WHerever you put them, don't just rely on the jack itself.

I've owned three C3's and always used the front crossmember to lift the entire front end at one time. Like Kanvasman, I placed a 4X4 block on the jack. I admit the crossmember got "dinged" a little but it never affected steering or alignment. With this plate I skip the 4X4 and if anybody cares, the underneath looks "marvelous".

I've lifted both of mine by the front crossmember many times. When getting completely up in the air, I drive up on ramps, jack the rear by the differential (I need to drive onto 2x8s to get clearance, and have a splitter mounted on the jack to get around the exhaust) and secure with jackstands. Then I jack the front by the crossmember, and put jackstands just ahead of the wheels (the dark marked areas in the image above). I put a block of wood on the crossmember, to keep it from buckling.
I do all of this to prevent rocking the car on jackstands, or twisting the car by using two jacks.

The splitter you refer to nfor jacking the rear end...how wide is it and where does it jack the car from? It seems like on the strut rod bracket beneath the differential is ideal to get around my exhaust, but my jack cross bar is too wide for the 15" bracket. (If it matters, I have a '68. Also, I understand my exhaust may not be routed the exact same place as yours.)
