Because he or she has the money, the skill set, they loved speed racer a child, it's their car and they can do what they want to it. Any number of reasons. Looks a hell of lot better than a lot of others we've seen on here.

The one that got pulled over is a much better rendition of the Mach 5. THe lines on the nose are much sharper and it has a racing stance. The one this article is about looks like a boat in the nose and the lights look painted on. I like the Mach % but I dont think that one is a good representation.
The cartoon was from 1967, and I was born in '68, so it was very popular with the kids I grew up with. Looks like it was a later model C3 anyway, not a 435 Tri power.
P.S. I agree the Peterson model is higher quality, more accurate.

I don't know about that. Who knows the condition of the car they started with. There are thousands of basket cases that would never be restored in a million years out there. I like it and if I won the lottery I would think of having one built. Yes the Peterson one is more accurate. It would be cool to have a drone come out of the hood.
