I recently pulled the windows out of my 68 convert non AC car and noticed the glass doesn’t have the Astro ventilation script on it. The car is an early Sept 67 build. Was the glass labeled at that time?
Good question. I wish I had an answer. My January build 68 door glass has the Astro ventilation script and came equipped with AC, but doesn’t have Astro ventilation. Have you checked the date codes on your glass?
As far as judging is concerned all 68 had the Astro Ventilation applied to all 68 Corvettes. Odds are your was replace by the PO. Check the date will be your best way to determine your issue as Sullyman56 suggested.
The glass did have markings, just no Astro ventilation script. I have since reinstalled the glass and put the doors back together after cleaning and lubing. Hopefully the markings are visible above door line. The car has the Astro ventilation vents inside the car.
I have seen indications that someone was in the doors before me. Just find it hard to believe they would replace both glass windows.
Is it possible they removed the script? Is the script just a sticker or was it etched in the glass?
The date code is a two letter code. This door glass is from December 67 This door glass is from October 67. Mine are both marked M74 and that is the manufacturers model number.
Agreed….I have a ton of documentation, but pretty sure none for any window replacements.
If it’s Feb 68 corvette glass, why no Astro Ventilation decal?
These are decals…correct?
To confuse matters further, the windshield is marked JX which is May 1968.
Why would someone replace all the glass, assumed within a year of manufacture??
Your protect-o-plate is fine. All the date info lines up with the vin number.
Your glass has been replaced. A production windshield wouldn't use the wording Shaded E-Z-Eye, it would have been Shaded Soft-Ray, or Shaded Soft-Ray Tinted.

There seems to be some dispute about the Astro Ventilation script on 1968 Corvette glass.
Some say yes, some say no.
Information from Mid America Motorworks:
"1968 Coupe RH Door Glass Astro Ventilation
Manufactured to authentic OE standards and specifications, our correct reproducton 1968 Coupe RH Door Glass is a premium reproduction product. This plate glass door glass features factory correct green "Soft-Ray" tint as original.
Astro Ventilation was introduced in 1968 as a flow through of fresh air, eliminating the prior vent wing configuration. In 1969, the side glass sported white script letters at the front end of the window used into the 1975 model year.
Note;: The Astro Ventiltion script did not appear on 1968 corvette window glass."

I think Mid America Motorworks is wrong in their statement that factory 1968 slide glass didn't have the Astro Ventilation script.
Thanks, the protect-o-plate aligns with the car stamped VIN and block. Was trying to restore the car to as original as possible. Wasn’t expecting all the glass to be a problem I won’t fix. Was just trying to figure out if the side windows should have the Astro Ventilation script.
God knows what else I’ll find along the way.

I agree, it's hard to get a definite answer, but if you own one and the dates are correct, then '68's must have come from the factory with the script on the windows.
Service parts are not always identical to the ones used on the factory production line. My guess is they just didn't include the Astro Ventilation lettering on replacement glass. It isn't necessary for function. It also could have to do with where the replacement glass was purchased. Was it through GM or a 3rd party auto glass store.
