Default Correct Tire for 76?

This is likely here in the forums somewhere so asking for help. What is the correct tire (OEM) for a 76? Is it the Goodyear Steelgard or a Firestone S/S? Most of my research indicates a Steelgard but I don't think that is right.

The link below has an original 76 spare and can't find this tire from any of the after market manufacturers.

CASHR, the Steelgard RWL IS the OEM equivalent.

As you know, the original tire size for all 1976 Corvettes was GR70-15.

Tires that were equipped on the car as delivered when new were theThe Firestone tire pictured in the Hemmings article is the replacement tire given in exchange for the original Steel Radial 500 during the recall program. It is not the original equipment tire as delivered when new.

Here is a pic of one of my original 500's, used only for display purposes.

Cashr is correct and thank you for the picture. I purchased a 76 in April of 77. I remember the recall well. I exchanged the original tires (in the picture) for the Firestone SS radial.

Very helpful. My first 76 had the S/S radial as I bought the car (back in 86) with 35k miles on it. The 76 I bought last week I want to get back to OEM. The owner who just sold it to me owned it since 77' and could remember the recall but not the tires he had on it.

I have one too, it was in the spare bucket, don't think it was ever used.

To me, nothing. I wouldn't dream of running it even as a spare, and my car is far from stock anyway. I will keep the rally it's mounted to if anyone wants the tire for display.
