Red line
I have 78 small block. I am expecting something I can't figure out. When I drive my car I can not go over 75. The moter is red lined at that speed.
I have taken it to a transmission shop, and they tell me that is driving fine no problems. It is just geared that way. It does have a 4/11 rear end, but the car has been driven over 100ph in the past and on red line .
Any thoughts as to why it is red lined.

I would think the clutch or if its auto, the torque convertor is slipping or not staying in the final drive. Tell us your transmission type and those that have that trans can chime in. If it is an auto, ask how to test the gears
