Hi every body-im having problems with my ignition switch on the column ,tm getting power to the new starter but will not turn over and im thinking its the switch so before I buy one is there a way of bench test first.thanks for your help bob 70 350 tilt @tell
You first need a wiring schematic for your year C3. Then you could use a volt meter to test the switch on the car. I would make sure the plug is correctly mated to the switch. Then have someone turn the key and look at the switch to make sure the “Rod” is pushing on the switch. I will assume that if you have a manual tranny, you have tested or ensured the switch on the clutch is working. Old age just hit, I can’t recall if 1970 C3’s had them?
Like was stated you need a wiring diagram, try papwana on this forum. Auto or manual? Is the adjustment on the ignition switch at the bottom of the steering column ok?
bruiser I checked that safety switch I have a auto and when I put it in reverse the rear back up lights come on so is there other way to check the switch out thanks

Check if the purple wire gets power when you start it
If you want to live dangerously, you can wire in a separate, switched 12V source to the solenoid terminal with the purple wire. People often do this to bump the engine when doing timing, for example. But absolutely start with a voltmeter.
