You could check the day of the month produced. I would bet it is the first one on Monday or the last one on Friday, LOL's!
I had a 68 with one stamp and a fainter second stamp above that was thought to be the result of a bounce of the stamper tool. This does not look like that to me.
Odd, but not impossible. The first stamp to the left looks okay as best as I can determine. It's anybody's guess why the worker thought the second stamp was necessary.
same stamp. hi had it off center and whole left side of vin is faint so he squared it up almost on top of the engine stamp and stamped it again. they don't do it for show points in 45 years. they have to be sure it is a readable vin.
I agree with it being the same stamp. The last 6 looks different in the leftside stamp because the stamper wasn’t level. It’s on a angle making the stamp deeper on the right and light on the left. The right side stamping is more level. Looks original to me.
Here is an original stamp same day but different engine. The VIN looks right on a double stamp as the first one was not complete. They usually did a grind out but this time they did not and tried to re-stamp right below the Suffix. The "0" on the LT-1 is a different zero then yours but they had multiple stamping holders for each engine type. They would only change the dates Month and day.
There were always 'new guys' that got to use the gang stamp for the first time. Some didn't do so well on the first 'shot'. The second stamp is called..."REWORK" (something that GM knew a lot about)

If they had a time stamp I bet you would find it was stamped just after a liquid lunch. Somebody on here posted a pick of the lunch time shenanigans from the 60's and 70's. It looked like a frat party between the beer, booze and pot you could see just in the picture in the plant parking lot. Somebody else had pics of the booze bottle hid inside the car when it was put together. THat may have been on the Willcox website. Lots of NFG or IDGAF back then. My stamp is stamped deep to almost none existant. No attenpt at getting it so its easily legible.

For the right price, might can be excused?
I have seen several "BOUNCE" results, but nothing like what is pictured !

If BIDEN was working the line, your CORVETTE would have a CORVAIR or a CHEVETTE logo on it. I'm sure he worked the line in 76,77,78,79 because he installed VEGA steering wheels without tilt /tele in your CORVETTE - WHAT A PUTZ
