Hey guys need a little help, the power windows worked before the engine and trans went in and now they dont, a hot wire did get sparked to ground by the starter just for a second, all the lights still work and engine cranks, any input much appreciated. car is a 69 427 coupe
Not familiar with the fuses on a '69, but did you check them? You might have to remove the park brake console/cover to see if you can see any clues there.
Hello sw69vette. Did some work on my 69 a while ago and cause a spark/short on the pw circuit. ended up replacing the circuit breaker and the relay. That is the relay that is at the front left side area of the shifter console. The relay can be reached by removing the side radio access panel that is on the drivers side at the front of the shifter console. Not the horn relay on the left fender ,#1picture, that is also wired to one side of the circuit breaker.
Hello again. Yes I believe it's good if you have power on both sides. You can also look at the Wilcox Corvette tech & install , there is a schematic and a great explanation of the circuit, where to test and what may be wrong depending on the test results. Also be sure to check that there is a good ground at the relay.
Before you do any thing else check the wire from the fuse pane that goes to the relay. As mentioned in the Wilcox write up it can easily knocked loose by a foot. Good luck

I found the other relay and have 12.5 v present on the orange wire but it does not click or activate when the key is on and pushing the window switch, so I presume it it bad

Thanks mbp for the info on the relay . I always wondered what that relay was for. It could save me some time if P/W ever fail .
Hello. Did you check the wire that is plugged into the fuse box and goes to one side of the relay, it's easy to nock loose and that the relay ground wire is good? Just asking. Does the horn work?
