1973 Corvette Wagon

Seller is dreaming.
It was a curious custom at one time but now it's just an old wrecked parts car, worth maybe $2K.
Nobody is going to build it back to what it was and it's not worth repairing as a stock '73.
It was built as a promo car. If it's valuable, why doesn't the owner contact Mattel, the company that consigned it's build and offer it to them for their museum?
The owner states not to compare this to a kit car. He’s right. A kit car, even one of the really bad ones ( they’re all bad but some are REALLY bad) would be way better….
Greg, if you gave him $2k for the car you would be doing him a favor. But it might cost you some respect.
76-Vman, Mattel is probably too embarrassed to take it back. Wouldn’t you be? If I was Mattel I’d probably give him money to never mention the connection again. Is it valuable? It is if you take a lesson of value in what to never do to a Corvette. The owner is probably learning now in that what he thought was going to be a good investment is a just turd wrapped in fiberglass dog poo. And a wrecked one at that.
In all seriousness, I do like customs. But 20k is just ridiculous. And this was just a over the top bad one.

I was being generous!

Actually, I was looking for a sport wagon a while back and I came across this one. I don't know what the owner paid for it. Maybe he's buried in the car or over paid because of this goofy custom history. The price was ridiculous then as well, but I spoke to the owner and got more pics. He said the car had been hit and off the road for about 30 years back then, so you can imagine how deteriorated everything is. The owner lives in a bubble and really seems to believe this car has some magic and that there is one really stupid buyer out there with a pocket full of cash.
Trouble is, his listings for this car always have pages and pages of info about what the car used to be. But very little about the car's current condition. His photos hide much of what's wrong. It was also hit in the rear. Left rear bumper took a pretty severe hit and is badly twisted, rear glass is broken and missing, custom tail light lens is also broken, interior has been left open to the elements and is moldy/cruddy, under hood is very rusty (SF Bay area is pretty wet) as is the whole under body, brake system, etc. And I'm certain the front frame is bent. He has since sourced a replacement front clip which is just sitting on car now.
I like a good project and I'd still like to find a sport wagon but whether a person buys this car to restore to it's Mattel era look or make a totally different custom out of it, like Steve said, you'd have to buy it for practically nothing and then expect to re-do every single system on the car, which would add up very quickly. And then, once it's finished nobody will recognize it or know the strange history (or care) that this fellow thinks is so valuable. It will still be just another custom sport wagon that people either love or hate.
Cheers
