Matching numbers is a bit meaningless without WHICH matching numbers. M/N is the most mis-used term in Corvette-dom.
Current values have risen...I view it as an inflation/bubble.
I find that MANY 'advertisers' see a high number for a rare or fully optioned 'desirable' car and get that number stuck in their head....not realizing that every option and condition is a 'plus' or a 'minus. Such as they see a price for a Convertible and assume that the Coupe is worth the same.
I've seen quite a few similar cars at say, the $26-28 pricepoint....they've been advertised for a couple of months now....(what's THAT say?)
Prices are regional as well.
Edit; Vin matches block= good Carb matches Vin/date code=good
Transmission matches?
Rear end Matches?
Distributor, Heads, manifold??? (Just being illustrative) To ME matching numbers means EVERYTHING thing is 'born-on'. Short of replaceable items.
It's a nice car. A/C? Tilt wheel? Leather? FE7? PW?
I think you see where I'm going.
Rust -free is the SECOND most over used mis-used term in Corvette-dom. Personally I'd check the birdcage VERY thoroughly.
What does the engine look like? working AC? Power options? Auto or 4 spd? New tires or old dates? How can you ask a price without giving all information?
Alarm means little, they were a $31 option but after 71 it was no charge. A 4 spd and AC account for sizable adjustments. How well this car presents itself goes a long way too.

I have a 1971 350/270hp coupe, auto, air, PS, PB, leather interior, stereo am fm radio, all original, matching numbers, Dallas car, no rust, older restoration but still in great shape. Everything was working when I bought it two years ago. Engine was rebuilt at 95,000 miles, has 113000 on it now. Transmission was gone through as well. I bought it at a very reputable dealership, they were asking 29,900 I got it for 28k. Beautiful paint and interior; Bridgehampton Blue with blue interior. Some would say I paid too much. I think I got a good deal and have been able to enjoy the car for the past two years. Sure small problems have popped up but in ten years 28k will be worth much less and my 71 will be going up in value. My 71 also has documentation going back to its original owner. I think I am the 4th owner but the car has been very well taken care of by all of it’s previous owners…
The value of the early C3's seems to be rising every day. It's hard to say what any are worth. If you get two bidders on BAT you can strike gold as a seller.
Tire shop behind my plant....Puts bazooty rims on DIMBULB cars to move them off the lot.
2012 HONDA CIVIC white auto, 16 year old girls car. 40,000 miles (with bazooty rims!) Window sticker = $24,000 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!
{yeah, delusionary, but in writing!}
I am going to respectfully disagree with some of the comments on value of the 71 350/270.
We can speculate all we want and it is a healthy discussion on the pros and cons of this car (and the one I own too).
Ultimately it will be the price negotiated between buyer and seller, and less what the market will bear (which is hot) across the nation right now.
I wish the buyer well on his journey. I love my 71 350/270. It may not be the fastest, but it is clean, reliable, has a great original AC and my boys do not know how to drive a stick.
Life is good!

I got a 68 convertible that had good paint but needed a good overhaul on the mechanics for 19K and that was 6 years ago. 20K is a good price for that car. Auto and coupe would knock it down but at this moment in time yes, go for it as long as you cant find any rust....thats the only hidden killer on these cars
