In 1968, 992 (Corvette Bronze) was availible with STD (black vinyl) trim. I'm guessing this is what you have? If so, F18 is the body production date code, January 18 1968.

You'd need to find someone with a very specific car that is missing a trim tag. There are also counterfeit trim tags floating around. You can often tell the difference by the shape of the "C" in "Chevrolet". If you post a photo, someone should be able to tell the difference.

Genuine trim tags will sell for between $50-75 on eBay.
