This owner offering his 1980 for sale claims Mint. I have never seen temp-gas gauges etc.on a C3 with that odd pattern around them, although seller says "original".
Looks to me more like an aftermarket wrap . Can anyone verify one way or the other ?
Thanks guys... hate it when seller swears up & down as original when my instincts say otherwise.
A simple "not sure" would have been better.
Make me question all other seller claims.

You should ALWAYS question what a seller says. He/she might be right; or might be repeating what they heard when they bought the car; or they could just be "blowin' smoke".
Caveat emptor..... (buyer aware!)
Or the seller thinks it really is original and does not know better…
car could still be fantastic….it’s just a cover..could have been very well taken care of and a prideful owner thinks maybe it was an option?
Thanks all. I always take the whole ball of wax, open to what the seller claims unless a couple of things don't add up. His prideful or otherwise claim "it's original" moves me to doubt other claims.
Owners claims are simply an adjunct, in the end I allow the car to speak for itself (and gratefully consult authorities like this board as the acid test) .
"Buying a used car is like buying a horse from a horse thief"..... I often find this in the classic car world.
The only question that should matter for an 80 is "does it have a manual transmission?" If it does, don't give up if the car is in good shape.
The gauges look original, the carbon fiber looking stuff is not, but that whole piece is reproduced and easy to replace. And you'll want to anyway, since that 1 DIN radio is also not original.
Check this site for the other codes that matter. If the car has a numbers-matching engine with the suffix "ZAM" (or "ZBD") buy it!
The seller does not know much about Corvettes so you can't go by what he says. You have to do your own investigation.
This is a base engine car. Might even be a 305 cubic inch engine if it was originally a California sold car. The optional L-82 engine would have a different tachometer face/redline.
Overall condition of the vehicle is much more important than the aftermarket center console dash overlay.
