Have it insured with Hagerty for 30k. Semi trucked backed into me after we both had complete stop at stoplight. He didn't see me and backed up so he could turn into SubWay for a sandwich.
It really depends on who writes the estimate. It's definitely repairable. I hit a deer back in 98. my front end looked a LOT worse than that. Had it repaired, spent a year in the shop.
Any good fibreglass shop can fix that front end. all new front clip??? Not really necessary unless your super picky. and repaint front clip only. Generally cars get totalled if the repairs go over half the value. A lot depends on you. Do you want it totalled? Estimates can be written high or low. And of course there is more than one way to repair this.

His insurance will try to get it as cheap as possible. Find a real corvette repair shop and have them right a full estimate including all new fiberglass and paint. Also have them check the frame and suspension as it probably bottomed out the suspension.....Or have the trucks insurance give you the $30k for the car and the $250k for the medical bills...Or they can just get it fixed correctly for the $20 k estimate...up to them

I'm guessing $8 to $10 Grand to repair. No way will it be totaled it @ $30,000 ............ $30K ??? I'm NOT going to say it ! But, I am very sorry this happened to you & your car.
I Hope it all works out to your satisfaction. Haggerty is the best !!
I know its just a 79 and that I could never ever sell the car for close to 30k. But it would take at least 30k to replace it as is if totaled.
good job on insurance…that repair should be…. WAG 15k TOPS
its your car and you paid for insurance and is worth 30000..notto mention not your fault…insurance companies settle up…demand what you want..

if they gonna give you 30k, take it minus the buy back and keep the car. then get a nose for 200 to 2k and fix yourself... problem is they won't want to insure it again. at least not for anything bt liability. so maybe find a 10k nice one and put whatever 20-25k in parts on the new one. or different insurance carrier. you can frequently avoid having the title branded when keeping your own totaled car.

I hear ya & feel your pain !! If it makes you feel any better, it was an accident. Intentional, malicious, destruction of another's property always feels worse with the same result in the end. Haggerty is great, they will make sure it's repaired to your satisfaction & treat your car like it's family. For most of us, IT IS !!!

Very hard to tell from our view based on pics, but if there is zero damage to the suspension or anything else underneath it certainly DOES NOT look like it needs nor will they put a full clip on that car. From what the pics show it really doesn't look all that bad. I know one tiny, little rock chip on my car has made me insane but as stated above "any good fiberglass shop" can repair that, well maybe not ANY but it sure looks repairable !!! Again it's very hard to tell from this point of view. Haggerty's adjusters know what they are doing. I'm looking forward to reading about a "HAPPY ENDING"

The pass side is not that bad just a large deep glass scuff. The driver side is a hole large enough to put a coke bottle in sideways and carries over from the top into the side of the fender. Head lights are push in enough to chip paint on the backside of both. Nose has small cracks/scuff here and there. Center of hood has some deep scuffs. Only thing mechanical could be some damage to the popups. They are loose and wiggly but still work.
I had 69 gills glassed in and don't want to lose them if repaired. As well as some custom emblems that were expensive. Hopefully Hagerty takes this into consideration.
Anyone know any good shops in Georgia? I may need one.

A crack in the fiberglass in my opinion will NOT warrant replacing the entire clip, and still not enough damage to total it. Just my thoughts. Looking forward to hearing what Haggerty has to say !
Maybe they will fix it with metal
Fiberglass is about the most repairable body material there is. It's not totaled and it can be fixed. Do you WANT it to be fixed, or do you just want to get paid?
My emotions have been all over the place. At first I was really frustrated and ready to start over again with another car. Now I'm looking into finding the best body shop for the job. I'm in South Ga not too many to choose from locally. I've got 7 years invested in the car and don't want to see it go but I want it done right even if I have to pay some out of pocket.

I also live in GA, however I live in Central GA, in Central GA there are several reputable places near Atlanta that work on C3's.
