Idiot lights
When you turn the key to ON, what idiot lights come on? I am replacing my dash and center console lights to LED and want to make sure I have the polarity correct. 1982 Collector's Edition. I tested the instrument lights and have those installed correctly. Not sure how to test the idiot lights.

Willcox has helpful color-coded diagrams of the flexible printed circuit boards.
For most lights, there is a common ground. As long as you line up the LED's cathode with that, your LEDs should work.
An exception may be the CEL, which has a separate in and out. There may be others.

It may be too late, but Superbright LEDs as well as others sell non polarized LEDs. You are correct, removing any Corvette dash more than once is insane! I have used their LEDs on three cars for dash lights, it’s the smart way to go.
