How does one go about aligning the headlight covers?
I loosened the 1/2" 3 bolts that hold the pivot rod brackets and have been moving those a little.
The car has been through a lot and I'm hoping this is fixable. How do I tell?
The main issue is the PS cover. It's not quite lined up and is not level either. (See photos)
Rookie guess: install any missing braces/brackets/supports and adjust the riveted section so that it is "straight and level"...
then search some threads about adjusting the headlight doors and STOPS-which cause the doors to be flush with the headlite panel when the headlite doors are in the Closed Position.
yeah its those pivots that need adjusted. they move the door height and forward backward a little bit. I would try raising the inner one.(i left mine finger tight, clsoed the door and tapped it into place. then fully tighten)
to center the door left and right i think you adjust the spacers on the pivot pin that is locked on with a hex screw.
Your door looks stripped, i think for proper adjustment you need to assemble the lift mechanism because it has the stop, and it has a bit of tension with the springs, that might effect play based on condition of all th bushings.
you might want to get a straight edge and check the front edge/and diagnal and how much it dips down, and compare it to the other side.
or use a contour edge tool to compare.
