Default Small cap distributor

Was in Carlisle the other day and bought one of these as I needed a tach drive distributor for my '69 L46
Small Cap Tach drive distributor for Corvette

So I was wondering if anyone had experience with this particular distributor. I will get it in the mail soon and was hoping it would fit under the shielding - it's actually as small as the stock distributor, so I'm thinking it might.

Looks like a MSD knock off of the corvette tach drive dist. #8572 I think. If it is you can just put the stock style female dist cap on it. That’s what I did with my MSD. The cap that is on it may be too tall to fit under the shielding.I didn’t bother to try that cap because I did not want to change to plug wires that fit the male terminals on that cap.

I bought this one use on my 69. Aside from needing to switch the plug wire ends to female, it would not fit properly under the shielding.

Could do it, but would need to really bend the wires hard right at the cap and force the shielding down.

Used it for a bit without the shielding lid, and then went back to the stock distributor, as there was no noticeable difference in performance.

you could raise the lower shielding up by re drilling the 2 holes on both sides down 1/2" or so
did this on my 68 worked great

Great idea - thanks for that! When I got the car, the old distributor had been replaced by a large HEI unit with no tach drive. So this solves 2 problems - gets my tach working and gives me a more stock look (with the shielding) while
allowing for the convenience of an HEI unit over points.
