From: Arizona - If you don’t know CFI, STOP proliferating the myths around it...
Too hard to tell what that line is for/from. Remove the aircleaner and take a pic of where it goes, plugged in at. But no, that is not for your brakes. The large line going into your booster is for the brakes. As far as the high idle goes, it can be a few things causing that. Do you get a check engine light at all? You may have a vacuum leak somewhere causing it as well. Things that may be causing a vacuum leak are...Bad top plate gasket (cracked) TB base gaskets bad, vac hoses bad just to name a few of the most common issues with CFI and high idle. May also be something going on with your IAC(s) as well. Let us know what you find. BEST thing you can do as a new owner is to purchase the 82 GM service manual. It has everything that you need to fix or maintain your 82. GL

This car is optioned with cruise, yes. I have not driven it more than 4 or 5 miles so far, so I cant say if it functions or not.
It has the original tires still on it, so I don't want to drive it really just yet. Gotta get me some of those repro Eagle GT's.....
So, it idles too high, brakes are struggling (2019 all 4 calipers were replaced, so I'm betting a vacuum issue) and it's down on acceleration. But like I mentioned, headlights pop up and down quickly.
I've already ordered the service manual as per Buccaneers suggestion!

Regarding checking the idle rpm in a crossfire vette be sure (if you haven't due to your old tires) that you get the engine warmed up really well. At least in my '82 even on a nice warm/hot day it can take a few minutes before the idle rpm starts to drop. Also, being in gear with the foot on the brake will seem to get it there more quickly.
I have noticed that sometimes when I am warmed up with it in P it will idol in that 750-800 range you mentioned, but when I put it into D with the brake on it then drops to the 600rpm. With my '82, the hotter it is the more likely it will hold 600rpm at idol.
