Default Power steering fluid

Hi everyone

I can get these two power steering fluids locally (Belgium... ACdelco stuff is hard to find):

- Eurol Powersteering fluid A
https://eurol.com/en/products/eurol-...ering-fluid-a/

- Eurol Powersteering fluid C
https://eurol.com/en/products/eurol-...ering-fluid-c/

What would be the best choice?

IMO, if those were my only 2 choices, I would go with A.
Back when these cars were new, there was no hydraulic fluid dedicated solely for power steering systems. The P/S systems were factory filled with ATF.

Growing up Dad NEVER had or bought "power steering fluid". Hescoffed at it and said it was a ripoff. ALL we ever used was ATF.

I'd go with the synthetic as well if I had only those two

FWIW, here's Jim Shea's doc on fluid

Important part is probably the "To be honest, all of the Saginaw power steering pumps adapt fairly well to all kinds of fluids." line

And yet there are some C3 owners who insist that you should never use ATF in the P/S system.

I'm not sure when GM started using the different fluid for PS, Mid 70's? Before that it was ATF forever

I believe GM started with a dedicated P/S fluid in 1980 - 81 when they brought out the FWD X bodies with R & P steering gears.

Wish Jim was still around....
(I thought it would have been like mid 70s, I know when they brought it out the went to the "use this, if not available use dextron)
Anyway, I've got a case of the stuff so at least I know what's leaking based on the color off the puddle lol
