Welp, Got a beautiful new transmission from Autogear. I heard they made bulletproof 4 speeds with custom gearing. I got a nice 2.99 1st M23 from them. I put it in my ‘71 with no problems.
I hooked the linkages up, got out from under the car, and saw that my shifter is facing the rear of the car instead of the top!
I used a makeshift neutral locator gauge out of an opened hose clamp. Maybe that’s where i went wrong?
I tried moving it back up, but it was locked up. I disconnected all of the linkages and it still won’t budge! I even disconnected the reverse cable and held the reverse lockout switch up with some wire. Nothing is working.
Has anyone had any trouble with their shifter like this? Any ideas?
Thanks all, I figured it out. I just loosened the bolt under the ****, wiggled and pushed (with decent force) and freed up the shifter. Im not sure what caused the issue, but i was able to go on to align the linkages and all feels smooth. Thanks again!
