Default Time To Do Some Research - Wheels

I'm on vacation down in beautiful Orlando, Florida and I managed to pick up these nice wheels and tires from a fellow Facebook Group member. They are in great condition and I am looking forward to getting them home; cleaning them up; and doing some research on their source origin, dates, etc. I may see how they look with center spinners, haven't decided that yet. Need a good cleaning and then determination of what to do with them next.

Do you guys recognize these? Appear to be 25 fins if I counted correctly.
Thanks for any guidance.
Old school feeling for sure.

Western and US Mags both made that style at one point. Popular with the camaro and trans-am guys. The center caps say US so for once they might not have been changed.

Added: The Western (and american racing and camaro) had 30 spokes and the valve was out on the taper more.

American Racing and a bunch of others also made copies but I didn't see any that had 25 spokes....

They were usually called Turbines.

Very popular wheel back in the day....

Dave, are you shipping them north or are you hauling them north? I am currently in North port. Just moved down here. But I still own the house in South Jersey. And I’m just about to go through Orlando on the way back up. With a 14 foot box truck that is empty empty except for trash I pulled out of the kids houses 2 miles from our house.

Hey Derek. My wife and I drove down to Florida in my 2021 Silverado so we have the wheels and tires in the back of the truck for our return trip next weekend. Thank you for the offer though, I appreciate it very much.
Have a safe trip back North.

I will flip them over and give them a good power washing when I get them home and then see what the backside of the wheels say.
Love the adventure. Look forward to learning more.
Thank you sir.

I have heard the term Hurricanes and Turbines both used with this style. Looking forward to learning more. Thank you for the information. David

Western had the turbine with 15 spoke and a cyclone with 30, American racing were the same (30 and15) called vectors and hurricanes or something like that.
Hopefully there's something cast into the back for you to see

Once I finish off the jersey house it’ll be too far to come for free parts…

These Western Wheel 30 vane Cyclones have been on my '65 since I got it 22 years ago. Had the face cut and polished about 15 years ago. Takes some time and effort to keep them up to a full polish, but I try, and think they still look pretty damned good for inexpensive high-production aftermarket wheels.

I only count 25 vanes on those (maybe I need to have a nap)
Those look like the same that David has, but all the western ones (cyclone and cyclone II) seem to have 30 vanes

Don't forget to check the date codes on the tires too

You're right - I was trusting memory and it's been at least 20 years since I last counted 'em.
They are in fact 25 vanes (I just counted 'em also, and now I need a nap too. )

I have a set I bought here on the forum coming tomorrow. They look cool polished with the insides between the spokes painted to match the car.

These appear to be the same 25 vane wheels that I just purchased. If I didn't have them in my truck waiting for my drive back home at the moment I would pull them out, wash them off, and do some investigating. Soon, very soon. Love your C-2 with those wheels, they both look great.

That part I did before purchasing the wheels. Two are 2018; one is 2015; and one is 2012. The tires will be coming off to be used as rollers but someone might be able to get some life yet out of the 2018 tires. Will check condition, thread wear, etc. when I get them home and will see what to do with the tires next. Good safety call though, always a good thing to know before use.

I had these powder coated and then machined to get me this look for the 72 road race replica. They came out nice. Not sure if I will do that with this new pair or not. Decisions, decisions, decisions. LOL.

I miss seeing this car! You could do a pewter powder with a machined fin, still have the stock look but more durable.
