Does anyone know the nominal length for c3 strut rods?? I took my adjustables off, and had to much fun playing with the left hand / right hand threads.
Now I cant get them back on with out the ties have sever negative camber. Just looking for a goo place to start!
What kind of adjustables do you have? The car needs to be on it's wheels to really see what the final camber is.
If your bushings are still good (or, even better, if you have heim joints), you should be able to adjust the camber if you use two cheap cutting boards under each wheel, with some grease between.
Otherwise, perhaps the locking plates are in the wrong position? Please post photos!
For my adjustables I couldn't get them into the center bracket without winding them out a long ways and then raising them into the bracket and winding them back in so the starting point was wherever (way off)
Here's the bubba method I used at the time (like Bikespace says, improvise)
I am not sure what brand of Adjustable Strut Rods I have. They were on the car when I bought it. The bushings were total disintegrated, hence this whole exercise was to replace the bushings.
Here are a few photos. Not sure if this is what you're looking for.
This is the top Strut Mount.
Is there supposed to be this much misalignment fore and aft, of the top and lower strut mounts?? had to push and bend to get the lower mount in place. The bushings had to give a lot to get these in place!!
Is the car on its wheels in these photos, or in the air with the suspension drooping?
To align everything (and it is much easier with heim-joints), the spring was the last thing I installed, so the trailing arms were hanging free. I raised them up to level to align everything.
Perhaps it wasn't captured in the photos, but do you have the same number of threads showing at both ends?
The struts are loaded when installed so that misalignment is "normal".
I found it way easier to put the outside end on first so I wasn't fighting the shock mount orientation etc at the same time as trying to force it over into place. Also, as mentioned above, I raised the trailing arm up as close to level (for the strut) as possible to get it as straight as it could be. Then brought the center into the mount on the diff.
