I have this profound harmonic rattle/buzz from the rear of the car. It sounds like it’s in the cabin with me but no matter what I press on back behind me, it doesn’t stop. Only happens at certain rpm but it really ruins the experience of driving the car. It’s been like this since I got it a few weeks ago. I suppose it could be something underneath but it sounds like the rear deck area right behind my head.
any commonly known culprits for a noise like this in that area?
Appreciate any insight as it’s driving me crazy and I haven’t been able to pinpoint the source.
Hard to pinpoint but here's a few things to consider
Some mufflers drone at certain rpm, but I'm guessing it's not that type of noise
Check the exhaust isn't close to anything, especially the mufflers vs spare tire carrier and the pipes vs the spring or diff
Check the spare tire carrier, especially if it's empty
Parking brake cables where they split and go across towards the trailing arms
Anything loose or moveable in the jack compartment
or any of the other million things that it could be
M
Also make sure the gas filler lid has it's spring and rubber bumpers so it isn't moving around but that's behind the bulkhead so less likely to make noise inside where you could hear it
What is the rpm range that it occurs at? What mph range? Does it go away if you move past that range (e.g. noise starts at 45, goes away at 55)? What gear? Assuming you are experiencing it in the highest gear, try selecting the next lowest gear and see if it is related to engine speed vs driveline speed.

It comes and goes at different RPM (1100 or so then again at 2500) and road speed doesn't seem to matter. It also seems to change based on outside temperature. It's definitely harmonic related to engine rpm. It does have flowmaster mufflers on it which are pretty loud and "vibratey".
I swear if it's the fuel door I'm just gonna turn in my car guy card and take up gardening.

Reason: spelling
I had a relay with a metal housing in my jack compartment that was vibrating and creating a lot of noise. I am not sure what that relay was for, it looked factory installed but had no wires going to it.

Well I'm off to the garden center to pick out some plants and garden trowel.
It is indeed the fuel filler door making all of the noise. One of the rubber isolation pads is missing so I stuffed some packing paper in the fuel filler and took a spin. No more buzz. Ordered some parts from zip corvette so hopefully that'll get it worked out. Thanks everyone. I wish I had thought of it sooner. I really appreciate all the input.
I would never have thought such a small thing could make SO much noise.
i carry a rag inside of the fuel filler to soften the lid as it did the same.. handy for wiping up drips that ALWAYS come out no matter and hit paint too!!!!!!!!!

I had the buzz from my tank lid. Replaced the rubber bumpers and it finally stopped. I had the buzz on an old truck which was related to the muffler and the heat shields buzzed on a Subaru...I agree its always annoying
