Are you crazy try buying parts they are so hard to find and costly. Also if you do it your self (labor) do you like working for a low wage. As far as finding clean all stock cars good luck! That is why i am keeping my stable for i chased C3 twenty gears ago and to find a car that will bring the money good luck! Just my opinion. You might be in a buyers market! You need people who can spot the good cars before they are listed.
I think you will kill resale value if you install digital gauges, I know it would be a deal breaker for me. Most guys I have seen, at least on here, prefer the cars to at least LOOK close to stock, with hidden performance upgrades.
Good point, that is a personal thing of mine but it will limit the buyer pool so I'll probably have to scratch the digital gauges.
You can fix that easy with a B & M shift kit.
I put one in mine in the summer of '77.
I've been barking 2nd gear whenever I want ever since......
I have a feeling my tranny needs a full rebuild, I negotiated with the seller to reduce the price 2k so I could get a new transmission. But I agree a shift kit is definitely part of the plan.
Having flipped cars for over 40 years anything past a 72 I don’t believe you will even get your money back if you have o do much of ANYTHING to them. They have been low budget entry level cars for years and I don’t see that charging anytime soon. I would rather have a C4 and they are cheap as well.
During my recent Daytona Turkey run tour last month came across a real nice 72 Camaro z28 badged split bumper car. I asked the owner if he had done the split bumper conversion or if he got the car that way as the front turn signals were under the bumper not inboard of the headlights. He proceeded to tell me it was built that way from the factory as Z28 Camaro's were all that way. I did not want to burst his bubble as I know only rally sport optioned camaros had split bumper from factory and his was not one. But this is the type of thing that gets passed along and folks cling to it not really knowing. I think you will find this in the buyers and sellers of Vettes too.
Yeah both my purchases were from nice sellers. Both were for sale for a while at over realistic prices. Time had worn them down as they were both really looking to sell.
Short of that most of the sellers were unrealistic, uninformed, idiots, used car salesman etc.
I think the bargains that can be turned over and resold at a profit are far a few in between.
If you do your own work, the only way I see you making a profit, is buying non running cars at a deep discount and get them running again.
But they are a gamble. Good luck Ike

Agreed! I like the look of the stock gauges, pre 78 at least.
