Having trouble locating a air cleaner for a 71' 454 with a Torker II intake and a Quick Fuel 750 w/electric choke,. Stock air cleaner hits stock hood, tried a Speedmaster 14 x 2 and the top of the air cleaner won't go on because it hits the choke plate. Just wondering if there is any suggestions before I purchase and return. My mechanic raised the hood at the hinges so it would fit, but not a fan of that fix. Thanks LB
You might want to try the L88/LT1 air cleaner assembly with a 3" filter. Couldn't tell you for sure if it would work but I can't think of a lower drop base air cleaner that's available. The Torker II is supposed to only be .25" taller than the stock manifold and is supposed to fit.

Although I have a sbc, I also had hood clearance issues with the stock air cleaner. I installed a 1-3/4" drop base spun aluminum cleaner from Allstar Performance. Far cheaper than the L-88 style assembly for the same end result.
Could you make a round shim to put between the filter and the lid on the top of the 2" to get it just high enough to clear the choke plate? Or peen it out in just that area a little bit for clearance?
