Since deciding to do more of a resto-mod, rather than pure restoration of my 71 C3, I'm wondering if any of you have alternatives for the Lighter/Ashtray space. I want to keep the sliding door, but would rather update those to something I will actually use. I don't want to just jam a USB charger into the lighter and call it a day. Are there any products for this space that you have used for either the Lighter, Ash Tray or both?
Since I made my headlight & wiper door electric on our 71 coupe, I decided to use a couple power window switches as over-rides. I fabricated an aluminum plate, and a bracket to hold the switches. The round black grommet will eventually hold a toggle switch.... when I finish hooking up a door lock solenoid to open & close the Astro Vent flap! The sliding door still works, to hide the switches when not in use!
Going to watch this for ideas to maybe steal, right now that's where I mounted an old school ipod that's wired into the radio but who knows what else it could be

This is my first setup which had AutoMeter gauges. I mounted an iPod under the ashtray opening. It could also read the OBD2 info. from the LS1. It worked pretty well.
No pictures or designs yet, but I'm planning to install a ignition power cut off switch where the lighter goes and a couple of USB ports in the ashtray so my wife can keep her IPad and phone charged on long drives.
All hidden under the sliding door.
