Default How to remove antenna

My new car has a non functioning radio antenna. It makes noise but the thing doesn't move. How in the world do you get to it so it can be removed? I took the corner speaker out, but that got me no where, I looked behind the rear wheel and see no way in there, took off the tail light but hole is far to small to work through. Or is this one of those, "you don't want to go there" issues? TIA

After tearing out the interior I found just exactly that. It has to come out from underneth by the muffler. Tomorrow I'll put the interior back in. Learning is OCCURING And yes, you damn well better be spry.. to complicate matters I found out my arm was bleeding all over the interior. BTW 1978 Pace car. Sorry I didn't mention that before..

So your antenna is electric extendable? Are you looking at fixing the radio reception or just the extendable antenna?

Welll, I would certainly like the radio to work, but one step at a time. Once i get the antennae issues fixed, I can look into whether the radio works.

Two things to check. Make sure the ground from the the antenna mount at the rear is correct and connected properly. Also, check continuity of the coax cable from the antenna to the radio. Check the center wire and the braided shielding separately. I found the center wire wasn't testing for continuity. Inside the plug that pushes into the radio, the wire was broken. The original radio works now.
