1973 w350, power steering, A/C. I have a squealing fan/alternator belt. In order to get the squeal out, the amount of tension needed makes it contact the power steering pump. I tried slipping a smaller sized belt on it, but the next size down won't fit over the pulleys. I read somewhere that most auto parts stores will sell you a belt, but that the car actually needs a wider belt than what stores carry. Any truth to this?
What size belts should I have? The one on it now (that squeals) is a 138.5. A 136 is too short to go on.
The original belt was part number 326089 with dimensions of 3/8" x 54 1/4".
I have no idea what your two numbers, 136 and 138.5, represent.
Here is a NAPA belt https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/PBH1...pressionRank=1
