I decided to invest in a set of the Holley Retrobright replacement headlights for my car. There’s a thread on here somewhere about these. Many thought they were overpriced and opted for cheaper LED’s. I preferred to keep the look of the original headlight and since they were plug and play I bought two to replace the low beams.
Left side was done in under 5 minutes. Right side headlight wouldn’t go up high enough to get the bezel out and I couldn’t get the adjuster to turn so I replaced with the bezel partially out. 15 minutes fighting with the headlight height, about 8 minutes to replace.
The look is what I wanted and obviously much whiter light. We’ll see what what they look like at night. Won’t replace the high beams unless it seems necessary.
First picture is with the stock high beams on. Third picture is just the new Holley Retrobright. Went for a short drive and they really light up the road. Based on my initial impression I don’t think replacing the high beams will be necessary.
I'll be honest with you - looks pretty much the same to me
Yea,, the new Holley low beam seem to perform like a high beam,, wow they are awesome, they look like high beams 👍😁👍. Thats great. Happy for your improvement .
Although I can see the difference between the high and low beam views, I would agree that these make a huge difference. It will be nice to not have the drastic change between high and low beams when running the roads at night
Quite impressive! When you have a chance, would you take a picture of the light pattern on a wall?
I used to run Cibie H4 and H1 lights - damn impressive, but a hodge podge of wire, relays (which occassionally would stick, even tho they were made for the application), etc. The idea of approx them, with low-current LEDs is very enticing. Paraphrasing Admiral Farragut, "Damn the cost, full lights ahead!"
Not sure why the pictures loaded the way they did, that's not the order I took them. Bottom picture is just the new Holley lights. The top picture is the Holley lights and the stock high beams. Highs don't add much, they just fill in. With the highs and the Holleys you can see the top of the fence and into the trees. Not much of an addition over just the Holleys. With the stock yellow headlights the road was barely illuminated. I think adding the Holley to the high beam would be overkill so I don't think I'll be adding them.
The car is back at my storage garage. When I get it back home I'll get a picture of the beam pattern.
Finally able to get the car out of the winter storage garage. Spring May finally be here to stay.
Drove the car home from a lacrosse game. The new headlights really lit up the road. Didn’t get anyone flashing at me.
It was really late when I got home so I just snapped a picture before I put up the garage door. Not the best picture but I think it shows the general beam pattern. My driveway slopes away from the garage which affects the picture.
wow, that is a noticeable improvement. Sadly, it would take a lot of thinking on my part before I parted with $400 for just the low beams. Glad they worked out for you, and nice job! Thanks for sharing.
