I’m in the process of removing my windshield and I figure this would be a good time to repaint the top of my dash so I don’t have to take it off. However, I have no idea what color it is. I tried dark brown and it’s not that and not black either. Any one know? It’s a 1978 black exterior with doeskin interior.
If you're talking about the portion of the dash that tucks up under the windshield, it's flat black. It does fade and break down with age and exposure to sun and why it may give the impression of dark brown. Chevrolet began "blackening" the dash to reduce glare to the driver in 1978. If you survey all vettes after that, you'll see black dashes.

That’s good to know, I had no idea. I guess will a can of the black leather/trim paint from Corvette America do the job, or do I need something else?
