I have been replacing a few interior parts in my 72 and have found that the colors never match. My door pulls are more similar to oxblood (74) over the red of a 72. I ordered 72 red dye (paint) from corvette central and it too is much darker. Where can I find matching dye/paint to spray the door pulls?
Some automotive paint stores will mix the color-dye that you prefer. Be sure to buy enough in case you decide to redo the entire interior. Buy a good cleaner also.
I believe even Chevrolet had a difficult time matching the colors......in fact, some worse than others. I know the original tan colors in my 77 were way off.....i.e. doors did not match dash, did not match seats, did not match kick panels, etc. The only solution is to redye all of it from the same dye. I suppose black is the only color that easily matches.
