Interesting, that Forum front page shows Ed Foss's green ZR-2 that will be at the Mecum auction, the description says only two on the planet, but there are three, all of them are in the current NCRS LS-6 Survey, not sure where the info was generated. Thanks, Jim
Jim,
You are right on. Why that old “two” number persists, I am not sure. It’s like the 240 57 fuelie number which has been debunked over 50 years, but still persists in some circles.
Mike
In addition to the three in the survey, I am aware of a 4th in Ohio, a yellow/saddle convt. that is slowly rusting out, I have known about it for about 30 years, have not been able to document and put in the NCRS survey yet. Jim
Of the three convertibles in the NCRS survey, I have seen all three, and looked at all the supporting documentation for each one, no doubt, they are all real factory built ZR-2's. Two of them were on display in the Bloomington Gold special collection of LS-6 Corvettes at Indy in June 2021. Thanks, Jim
...I remember that one Ontario Orange '71 ZR2 convertible that went through several collectors and I think ProTeam had for awhile too. Was that Swedish export car that was always displayed with that European style license plate. Seen it several times at many Corvette venues in the early to mid 2000's.
The Swedish car is not a ZR-2, it is an automatic, and belongs to Rick Hendrick, the two ZR-2's on display at Bloomington were the Green 8K mile car and the primer car owned by Dick Ferrando of D & A Corvette Inc. Again the third ZR-2 Vert is the Ontario Orange car, that was not in the Bloomington show, has been on & off in the various vehicle auctions for years. Some of the confusion about two or three ZR-2 verts stems from the Primer car was known, but not in the NCRS survey until a few years ago. Always great to talk about LS-6 Corvettes as they get so little attention compared to L-88's. Thanks, Jim

Hey Jim, I have emailed you details of my father in laws ZR-2 which is likely to go to auction in the UK next month all being well. As far as i'm aware it's untouched. There is a possibility it may be coming back to the US to go to auction too.
Jim - I've been asking this question for years. Why does 2 always get thrown around when there are (at least) 3 of them out there and all 3 are seen relatively often. As I recall, all 3 were at Bloomington Gold about 10 years ago in St. Charles.
Yeah, it sure does. It's fairly much been in storage for 40ish years. So Paul, my father-in-laws mechanic has spent a few months cleaning it up ready for the transport to the States. It was recently taken to an NCRS UK event.
We are just hoping that it will go to the right buyer at the auction and whoever gets it can spend the time and money it deserves to get it back to its best!
Anyone who is interested, the car goes up for auction tomorrow with Bonhams. It would be great if it went to someone on here that could restore her to former glory!
