I don’t have a C3 Corvette but just trying to find out some information.
Have wanted GM rally wheels to put on my 1965 C10 short bed truck for a while, however there seems to be several versions.
Somewhere I read in 1968 Corvette and Camaro got rally wheels.
There are a couple of companies that make reproductions of these wheels, beauty rings and center caps, even in 6 lug version to fit my truck.
There is a version that is a chrome wheel that doesn’t use beauty rings, but in pictures it looks weird, the plain silver/grey wheels oval slots are slightly covered up by the beauty rings, the chrome wheels without beauty rings don’t have “that look” if you know what I’m describing.
What years Corvette came with these wheels?
Can anyone take pics of their Corvette rally wheels?
The wheels I have now are fine, but make me think of 1980s and I want the 1960s look.
1967 was the first year for ralley wheels for corvette, chevelle, Impala and nova. for metal cars they only came on cars ordered with disk brakes. all 67-82 ralley wheels came with matching trim rings.
I was only referring to Corvettes since the title of the Thread is 68 Corvette Rallys, thanks.
I get that but most forget the millions of other cars they were used on. the generic after market wheels is a good choice but should know way be called "Corvette ralleys"
For 275 60s, you should use an 8 inch rim otherwise the tire will look pinched in at the bead. I know this from experience, I also own a 67 Impala SS that I put some 7" rallys on the rear with 275s. Look wasn't right. Went to 8", tire looks correct. My son also runs 275s on those magnum 500 style rims on his 70 Chevelle. Looks good.
An interesting side fact on corvette rally style wheels, my 67 Impala came with factory disk brakes, and the rally wheel was 15 x 5. I never knew rallys were made narrower than 6", but for 67 Impalas only the rims are 5". They are coded "DB". Very rare. For that reason I never plan to sell them. They are just too skinny for the wheelwells on that Imp.
Lastly, the i believe the 68 Corvette 7" rally has it's own unique offset compared to the 7" rally used on other Chevy vehicles like the Monte Carlo. The Corvette rally offset is less and pushes the wheel more outward. Oops. Someone now I see has mentioned this.
