Default UCA removal

Rebuilding my 75 front suspension. Having trouble removing the UCA without removing the radiator shroud, and can't seem to figure out how to remove the shroud.

Can you remove the UCA without removing the fan shroud?

Any help appreciated.

Not clear on what's holding up your fan shroud removal. I pulled mine out of my 77 years ago and converted to electric fans. Clearly your missing one bolt or something.
As per can you remove the upper control arm without pulling it. Yes. you can press the studs out that retain the upper control arm. Common practice.
I believe Lars had or has a write up about it on here somewhere. Or contact Lars. Me, I don't like the idea of pressing those studs in and out as I believe that they won't be as tight as they were.
None the less. it can be done.

I wish I had documented that step better. I redid my front suspension at the same time I added dual-Spal electric fans. I was able to get the stock shroud out in one piece, but I had the hood removed, the radiator canted forward, and may have had the UCAs out by then, too. Or perhaps the shroud removal allowed me to remove the UCAs.

Lots of room now, with electric fans, strut brace, and SPC UCAs.

You'll have to take the seats out to remove the shroud. There's a reason lots of them are cut on the bottom...

typically removing the fan is needed as a minimum, loosening the rad support and tilting it forward is another move. If you remove the waterpump of course
See if you can get it free enough to rotate it up/down out of the way of the UCA rather than trying to lift it

Yay tilted rads

Take a C-Clamp & Socket and press out the UCA forward bolt than remove arm.

I just replaced mine in my 78. Driver side came out with only sliding the shroud enough to push the uca inwards and get it over the bolts. The other side...I could not figure how to get the c clamp in place to do the press out trick. I kept sliding it back and forth but was getting nervous I would wreck the rad. I ended up finally removing the shroud. I too have elec fans, but the cross shafts butt right up to the shroud. At the end of the project it would have been easier to just remove the shroud at the beginning.

Thanks Mr D, that did the trick! Passenger side was tough to coordinate, but when my son came home, it only took a couple of minutes.

Probably a typo? You only need to take the seats out to check/change the fuses.

Well it's a 75 so you don't have to take the bumpers off to change the fuses but I'm pretty sure you'll still need to remove the drives door....
