Orphan plug with recepticle missing Passenger side, receptible is there and plugged in
I noticed that my fiber optics weren't working for my headlights so I replaced them with the appropriate T3 head lamps and now they work great. In doing the replacement I noticed an orphan plug for a 2 prong receptable under the driver's side headlight assembly. In looking at the passenger side, the plug was plugged in to the lower portion of the headlight assembly. See photos. My question is what do these control? It seems to me that everything associated with the highlights work fine including the headlight dash light indicator. Thanks.
Larry
that is the switch that says your lights are up. up or down, i forget. but when you reach under to pull the lights up manually cuz it is dark it is way too easy to break the switch off of the mechanism. don't ask me how i know this. there is, after all, a 5th amendment... https://www.topflightautomotive.com/...hoC_cIQAvD_BwE

You don’t give the year of your car. My uneducated guess is the plug / connector goes to the “Other” head light closed position switch. If only one headlight opens, you should get an indicator light for the headlight that didn’t open. If your indicator light is turning off with the plug not connected, there could be a wiring issue. Try and give as much info on your car going forward, there aren’t that many detectives left on the forum as in years past.

Sorry, I realized after I posted this that I forgot to mention my car is a 71 Coupe 350/270. I do have the Assembly Manual but it didn't explain much. Although it did identify the part called a switch assembly, part# 3951239, and nut part# 124829, but as you know the manual didn't mention what the switch assembly actually does. Since my headlights work it never triggered a faulty assembly.
I really appreciate the help. I'm going to try to find the parts now. Thank you again.

Thank you for the link to the switch. Oh and by the way, your secret is safe with me. Larry
You may want to turn your headlights with the motor OFF, they probably will not raise up, no vacuum. Then turn the ignition to “ON”. The headlight indicator light should come on, if it doesn’t, it could be the bulb. Most vendors have the switch, my switches were original, so I bought two. They are plastic and if you look at the new switches funny, they will brake, go slow when installing and use a small wrench.

Great advice, thank you. I wonder why the Corvette parts suppliers never or rarely supply the fasteners. The switch seemed easy enough to locate but not the nut that secures it. Humm....
