Default New Center Console Won’t Fit

So while I had my interior apart I decided to replace my center console and various parts on it, and now as I try to reassemble it won’t fit. When I line up the front to be bolted to the gauge cluster bezel it’s too long and sits in the way of the parking break plus the side holes don’t line up. Then when I push it in further under the gauge bezel the side holes line up but then front end ones don’t (too far in so overshoots the gauge bezel holes and leaves a gap by the parking brake). All wires are out of the way, it’s almost like I got a defective piece, but I got it from Zip Corvette and they’ve always been top notch so I doubt that. Any ideas?

I might try loosening up the brake console first. Then with the gauge cluster in place attach the center console to the gauges. Then do the brake cover. Did you have the dash itself out. If I recall on my 78 there was some play in the dash, as in pushing it in or out where the gauge cluster fits. Btw I like the interior color. Good luck

All of those pieces have some adjustment in them.

Did you replace the shifter boot? When I did my console, the lip on the new shifter boot was thicker than the original. It made the console sit too far back and didn’t allow the holes to line up. Had to bend the metal support that runs perpendicular to the hump forward about a half inch or so to get everything to line up…..this was on a 77 auto though.

Finally got it in, it’s still well length wise after I forced it a bit, but the side holes don’t line up as well as the rear ones with it sitting too high in the rear. It looks good and is pretty secure, so just gonna drill some new holes for the sides and chalk it up to just a defective piece.
