Th 350 slipping in 3rd
Guys, I have a 79 with 350 and th350 trans. First and second gear shift fine and it does go into third gear find but after about 15 to 20 minutes of driving the RPMs increase in third gear and third gear slips. Reverse will engage but it takes a few seconds so I'm reading that reverse and third gear have the same clutch pack usage. I put a new adjustable modulator on it just in case, but no improvement. I have not changed the filter and fluid as the fluid is red and is not burnt. I am leaning towards replacing this with a 700R trans figuring the th-350 needs to be rebuilt, sound about right? 200 4R if you can find one for an upgrade. No change for driveshaft, yoke, and I’ve read on CF the mount requires no mods. Do a search, there’s a good write up here on CF on the changes.

Thanks Steve, looks like there is a company called Monster Transmission that has them new for $895 plus core. It definitely looks like an easier upgrade compared to the 700 which I already have one but I'm sure I could Craigslist it.
