I use a Batter Tender brand maintainer it has always worked eell. I did just by a big charger and jump box for when i do work on her and drain the battery
I bought 5 Eastwood branded battery tenders, they work fine. I recently bought a Summit branded tender and it's identical to the Eastwood units except for the label.
how often do you drive the car? I drive mine at least once a week and drive it about seven to eight months out of the year. I never used one and my first battery lasted 10 years.
I have used the Battery MINDer, the Battery Tender and the CTEK, all have performed well and are quality maintainers in my opinion. I have all currently in use and the Battery MINDer is probably 15 years and going strong.
I must say that the price of the Battery MINDer that TX Driver posted is a smoking deal. These typically sell for close to $50...
This one (exactly): 1500 model. It's an uprated version of their basic model. Better. I've had mine for many years, you just don't have to fuss with it. Charges 1.5A ..or maintains (1 or 4 batteries at once). Adjusts charge per ambient temperature, also has Pulse desulfator. I move mine between vehicles and equipment all the time. Charge/maintain is automatic and never skipped a beat once. I can't say that about some other 'smart' chargers I've used. I love mine and use it all the time over my Schumacher and Johnson Controls Optima charger. You just have to have patience, it's not made for boosting or quick charging (use another charger for that job). Once nice thing is the LED's are bright. If it's in the shop or outside by a car I can see from 30' or more away what the charge status is by the blinking (or not blinking), or color of the lights.
Of course a good ole schumacher old-school analog .3/2/10/50A charger is almost a must around the shop too. But for light charging/maintaining, I never worry about burning the house down with the Battery Minder. If you buy one, also buy the 1-to-4-adapter for charging multiple batteries. Nice to have.
