What’s the dash hole?
78.81000miles. Center console we found the Defogger switch tucked under center console bezel.
now to find its relay! I hear it!
prior owner had played Sparky the electrical wizard. Ugh. Or a raccoon lived in the dash!
it hasn’t run in a couple years. Gas was amber in color! Mmmm!
we have got most things back. Low beam head lights and power antenna relay are next. We are on fuel sender today. She got her rebuilt Quadra jet Saturday and runs pretty good for not set up. Restored headlight and emission vacuum. New calipers brakes and front bearings. How it still had a riveted RR rotor is puzzling. Em brakes where left to next time.
I’m very pleased it doesn’t have the Chevy lifter tap tap. Smoked a lot of oil off trans and rear of engine. Temperature gauge now works too.
power steering is holding for parts. Yee haw! Dash lights are now Led. Badges and tail lights are new! Courtesy lights and alarm system radio cruise control are all our my radar.
not bad for 4 weeks!
note: I’m good with volt ohm meters. But picked up a test probe from Amazon that makes electrical work way way easier. Called Autotool. Gives me voltage readings, switches from positive or negative probe. Says it can display AC power too. It’s nice to test motor or switch without jumpers. FYI.
The hole is for the wiper switch. Just a fyi, in early 78 eventhough your ordered a wiper delay it was crossed off the build sheet. Later on in production they appeared. According to NCRS @18,000 mark. This article talks about the different covers. Just in case you wonder what the pink wire is for. https://www.corvettemagazine.com/1968-1982-corvette-wiper-motor-replacement
If you do a search on this forum there are a few threads about the wiper in 78 if needed.

The old girl has attitude! Woke from a long slumber.
So he opens things during day and we close at night. Finally got a battery disconnect switch. Found him deep into dash. Key on! Lol! God protects fools and idiots! Never occurred to him! My guess the Vette knew she was in loving hands and didn’t bite him. Even though a new Garage would be nice.
