I find the list doesnt really get smaller, you just decide to go to the next level of pricing. Mines the $1000 per item level now , the cheapest thing on my list is a power window conversion at $800.00 roughly, but the next thing is the aluminum heads at $1250 a pop and rising due to inflation and the ship date gets further away
And don’t forget the “while I’m at it” add-ons. Latest for me was the new clutch fork which turned into a TKX swap with a new clutch, linkage, and exhaust.
It’s endless and applies to all classic cars. I’ve accepted this reality. It’s the nature of knowledge. The more you know, the more you realize that you don’t know. It’s humbling
I get the wipers/wiper door all working again... and now the headlights are staying up.
Is this a magic feature of C3 to-do lists? The total # of items never decreases, similar to energy being conserved?
I feel the only way to own these cars are to Prioritize what has to be fixed !! Don’t even think about cosmetic accessories until she is completely mechanically sound than buy your add on’s.. I see so many owners spend thousands of dollars on paint , interior, stereo, rims, meanwhile the car is falling apart mechanically but hey it looks nice but it doesn’t run
Yup, I see that a lot with Harley's too. At least it'll look nice sitting on the side of the road we always say.
And I thought I would add. reading this forum has the very bad effect of adding to that to do list.
Almost every day I see something on here and say either, I should check that on my car, or, That's a cool idea, I'll have to do that to!
i will make your list shorter. never drive it. never plan on driving it. just open garage door and look at it once in a while. see? nothing you have to do...

I certainly cant talk about scope creep, it seems to be in my nature, and any lists I create grow as a result.
Also I agree with the comment that lists become circular as I often revisit previous work for refinement etc
But I do believe the lists do come down from the daunting size to the liveable size as time goes on.
exactly correct. Since most of the owners are not professional or have experience at redoing corvettes most circle back at complete tasks for a redo after viewing video clips or reading up.
And in my case I circle back because although I did completely redo my console. After 20 plus years and a lot of use. It needs to be redone again! And on it goes!
