Default temperature sender wire repair

The wire adaptor keeps falling off my temperature sending unit in the drivers side head of my 1971 BB Stingray. I would like to know if someone knows how to remove the pin from the white plastic connector that the pin is inserted into so I can try to tighten the female pin so it will not fall off the round pin of the sending unit when I'm driving the car. I have tried inserting a small metal round pick into the holder to see if I could release it but no luck so far.

Thank you,
George

Here's what I did on mine. Because that plastic holder is so old and brittle.
I Plugged the connector onto the switch on the head. Then I put a dab of clear silicone sealer on my finger tip. reached under there and put just a dab of said sealer on the housing/switch. Thus putting just a small amount of "glue" as it were bridging the housing to the thermo switch.
Never fell off again. And just a dab of clear silicone can be pulled free in the event that something needs working on.

The female connector is held in place by a small tang. If you use a very tiny flat blade screwdriver and go in from the front side, you can depress the tang and gently pull the wire out. Then gently squeeze the female "barrel" to make it tighter. Push it back into the plastic plug. The tang may need to be gently pushed back up to engage and stay in the plug. They sell new plactic connectors by them selves. I hope that this helps you. Lou.

I had the same problem. I spent a lot of time with a tiny flatblade screwdriver attempting to removed the connector from the housing. No luck. What finally seemed to do the trick was I squeezed the housing with pliers, cringing thru the whole operation. So far, so good!
