My son and I are doing a similar project. He bought it so he will drive it. He still needs some time behind a stick.
So cool! I wish ours was a manual. It blow's my mind that the kids are not going crazy with the plastic bumper C3's. You can buy a decent driver for the price of a used up Honda Civic.
I was thinking of posting a poll for the best white letter tires. Leaning towards the Cooper Cobra’s.
I have a new set of BFGs and the letters are white, bright and fine. People who still complain about brown letters on their BFGs are lamenting an old issue... they probably still lament not marrying the high school beauty queen they dated 50 years ago too LOL
Unless BFG fixed their bleed through problem in the last 15 minutes and I didn't hear about it, they still have an ongoing problem with the T/A's.
My vote is for Mickey Thompsons.

Lots of downsize with cars like Honda Civic either three things will happen. Someone will steal the converters, steal the car or break into the car. This way, all of those are prevented. One is nobody is gonna steal a cassette player. Hardly, nobody knows how to drive a stick. No converters. The other thing, he has to drive the corvette and not get distracted. Plus, he will need a job to keep gas in it.

The C3's just seem like a lot of fun for the money!
My kids are going to start driving in a Chevy Cruze with a 6 speed manual. The job comes with the car. They will pay their share of the insurance, and all of their gas. That's the way it should be. If a kid hasn't swept floors, flipped burgers, or changed oil at the quick lube, etc. They won't understand the blessing of a good job attained through hard work and higher education. We have raised enough entitled brats in this country. My boy's will probably be brat's just not entitled. Rant over.

100% agree. My youngest son worked as a dish washer at a local mexican restaurant. He saved up enough money to partially pay for the corvette. We told him we would match whatever he spends. We will spend another 2k on it for him to get it safely back on the road.
I told him we would pay for the following:
Upgrade the power steering to a borgeson unit.
Replace the calipers with stainless steel sleeved versions.
Replace all of the tires with some cooper cobras.
Registrations and taxes.
Over the winter the old girl got The wheels repainted, new KYB shocks, some brake lines replaced, new Vitour Galaxey R1 tires (245/65R15). Finally got the brakes blead good enough to get the warning light out. We replaced the belts, some fuel line and vac line. New air filter and some other odds and ends. As the weather improves it is time for some short road trips, to find anything else that needs attention. Hope to take some longer runs this summer.
I'm thinking it could use a 1 1/2" lowering. What is the opinion of the forum? It's an all stock car.
I do not care for the slammed look, but I'm thinking my gaps are a bit large. I don't remember where I read it but somewhere I read that the 76 was lifted an inch over previous model years. Maybe that is not correct?
