Be sure and wear gloves and protective clothing when you get around the vents/dash. Our friends the mice, probably were uninvited guests for many many years and as always, will have left their droppings. It’s sad that the owner didn’t have a cat who lived in the barn, they are worth their weight in GOLD, when talking about mice. Good Luck.
A good scrub will get the mold taken care of. Murphys will work. Heck scrubbing bubbles will do the same thing. Its easy to get it off and leather conditioner on it. Now, the carpet thats another problem.
I have used the product called Concrobium ( I think that’s the correct spelling) on leather jackets that got moldy with great success in killing the mold. It works by crystalizing and crushing the mold spores. On its advertising the owner drinks the products!!
It might work well on the carpeting as well anything else. With regards to the damage that the mold is caused now that’s a different story and if the mold has gotten in amongst the foam might need to dismantle the seat to clean that all up as well.
Other than time in energy you have nothing to lose by trying to clean them up in that the chemicals aren’t very pricey. I think Home Depot now carries it.
My 80 came with moldy seats that I replaced, but kept and tried to restore. The covers and foam stood no chance and were tossed. I was able to save the shells with a lot of bleach.
Replace all the carpet, too, and check behind the dash.
Wherever you get your parts, there are two primary manufacturers. Al Knoch, and Corvette America (now owned by Top Flight Automotive). For carpet, Al Knoch and ACC are the primary suppliers. The vendors will tell you where they get their stuff if you ask.
These are Corvette America put in my 79 by the PO. They are really nice.
